Spring Bible Study - April 18-22, 2007

Spirit & Truth Fellowship International’s doctrine and practice is based on the Word of God, so being able to read and understand the Word of God is of utmost importance to us. The sad fact is, however, that the average Christian is woefully unprepared to do rigorous Bible study.

It is the goal of the Spirit & Truth Spring Bible Study Seminar to teach people the basics of how to study the Bible. It is common knowledge that there are dozens of translations of the Bible on the market today, and several new ones are introduced every year. Furthermore, there are thousands of denominations in the world today, each teaching slightly different doctrine. Is there a way to tell which is correct? We believe there is—through the proper study and interpretation of the Bible.

The seminar itself is based on a combination of lecture and problem solving. Each student receives a syllabus covering keys for Bible study, and the study problems for that particular seminar. The lectures cover the basics of Bible study, and how to use the tools that are most commonly associated with Bible study. These include:

English Dictionaries
Greek lexicons
Hebrew lexicons
English concordances (such as Strong’s or Young’s)
Greek Concordances
Hebrew Concordances
Bible Dictionaries or Encyclopedias
Bible Atlases
Bible Customs books
Greek and Hebrew Interlinear Bibles
Bible Study Software

After learning some of the basics of how to use the tools to good research, students are given questions to solve. There are basic questions for beginners, and more advanced questions as people develop confidence and skill. Help is available while the students are working on the problems so no student gets “stuck” with no idea what to do. After time to answer the questions, the instructor goes over them, and shows how to arrive at a biblically correct answer.

Spirit & Truth has been running Bible Study Seminars for years now and has helped hundreds of people learn to study the Bible, a skill that they use in their private study as well as in their home church or fellowship.
