Manufacturers set aside huge budgets to make people familiar with their products. “Good works” is much like God’s advertising campaign. It is the original “truth in advertising,” in that “what you see is what you get.” When we act with good works we demonstrate the very nature of God, and that is many times what opens the door for people to come and taste of His salvation. Jesus’ words seem pretty clear, that whenever we perform an act of charity and good works for those who are less fortunate he considers it just as if we are doing it for him.

In this issue of The Sower we are blessed to present you a feature article by Dave Hanson, “Get in the Game,” in which he demonstrates from God’s Word that we are His workmanship, created for the grand purpose of doing good works. Dave reminds us that from God’s perspective, these good works are not optional, and He has equipped us to do them.

In this month’s Contender article, “Created Unto Good Works,” John Schoenheit points out that good works are not a “man thing,” or a “woman thing,” but a “Christian thing.” God intended Christians to go into the world to do good works that will bring others to salvation and cause people to praise God.

This month’s ABC’s of God by Cara Hanson, “The Missing Piece,” draws a great parallel between how frustrating it can be to find that we are missing the last piece of a jigsaw puzzle, and how rewarding it is when we search for the missing pieces of our hearts. The heavenly realms rejoice when we care enough to light a lamp, sweep out our hearts, and seek the Lord diligently for those missing pieces in our lives that are preventing us from perfection. Also, the Fuel for the Fire contains a beautiful poem written and shared by Shelby Hoffman at this past summer’s Teens and 20s Camp, in which she presents a unique perspective of Christ, as seen from the viewpoint of his sandals. In our Vine section, “Take Time to Get Dressed,” Dan Gallagher draws a connection between our daily habits of getting dressed and the time we spend getting spiritually ready for the day.

Finally, two long time supporters of Spirit & Truth Fellowship, Tom and Ellen Klug of Rocky River, Ohio, present our Partner Profile in which they state how they are thankful for the godly compass that the ministry has provided their children.
