One of the most prevalent themes in God’s Word is obedience. Adam and Eve failed the obedience test, whereas Noah obeyed God and saved his family and all mankind and the animals from extermination. Abraham obeyed God, left his father’s family and homeland and was willing to sacrifice his own son; the result was he became the father of many nations. Saul fails the obedience test with the Amalekites (1 Sam. 15), as does Solomon, with the results being disastrous.

Far too often Christians will say they are committed to the truth, but then fail to “do” the truth. They fail in the area of obedience. Jesus made it very clear that a person could not say they love him if they do not obey him (John 14:21-23).  Keep striving for obedience and do not make excuses. Just get up, dust yourself off, ask for forgiveness, and get moving forward again. You can do this!
